Roma

May 17th, 2005

Rome is a beautiful city with a new surprise waiting behind every corner. You can go from a modern train station to an ancient ruin in a single city block. Pictures speak a thousand words.

Cale and I had 2L of vino tonight with a truly authentic Italian dinner, woohoo. Our internet cafe attendant is hooking us up with a few perks and extra time. He liked the pictures of us with the A&M girls 🙂

Wien

Prague and Vienna

May 14th, 2005

What a busy job travel has become. We have managed to get on the wrong trains a few times, but other than that we are feeling very comfortable in Europe.

On our train ride from Cologne to Prague (Praha) we had a couchet (sleeping car) with 3 guys from Florida. We ended up sharing a room with them at a hostel. I never want to stay in one again. Communal showers are fine for youngsters, but I would much rather have my own.

We partied our asses off at a club until dawn and had to check out by 10 AM. The club was right by the famous Charles Bridge that was in the movie Triple X. Everybody decided to get an apartment for the next night, which took us until noon to procure and check into. It was ok, hand held shower head which was tricky to keep in the tub.

There were tons of super model grade women walking around on the streets all day, but we did not manage to find them by night. Oh well, I have some pictures of them for posterity.

I cannot get this computer to recognize my camera, so it is going to have to wait for another day. There are some great shots to be posted!

We are currently in Vienna (Wien) for the evening and have a 6:30 AM train for Venice. We managed to get a great hotel for a great price and it is only five minutes to walk to the train station. Cale and I took the subway to the city center this evening for siteseeing and our first orgasmic taste of gelato. Ice cream will never be the same. The people we have met have been very nice here and many speak English. Our hotel concierge is really treating us well, giving us a 4 person room for the 2 person price, discounting for a last minute deal, and subtracting 8 euros for us leaving before breakfast. On top of that, he did our laundry while we got dinner and checked out the town and is not going to charge us. Mad props to the Hotel Kolbeck in Vienna.

Amsterdam and Cologne

May 11th, 2005

Oh my god, Europe is so much fun. Had a weather delay in Houston before getting into Amsterdam a few hours late. Cale made it in before me with no troubles.

It took us forever to figure out the damn train system at the AMS airport, but it was a good experience.

Spent one fun filled day in Amsterdam seeing the sites and partaking in all the city has to offer. Bought tshirts for souvenirs.

We are in Cologne Germany right now and the German keyboard is totally weird. The y is where the z is so typing requires some thought.

We saw what must be the biggest church in the world (the Dom) and climbed to the top of the mofo. We then ate real German food in a bier hall. We found some bottles of bier and a bottle of riesling to pre party at the hotel. Then we checked out the night life in the Friesen district. It is kind of a college part of town. We got totally drunk at a club called the funky chicken. The chicks here don´t seem to like Americans, oh well.

Check out the photos and read the comments for details.

Ling Cod Fishing

May 7th, 2005

Went fishing with Cody, Troy, Nole, and Nole’s stepson Michael in Everett. We went up last night and stayed with Nole and drank a few beers. 4:45 AM wakeup call from the charter boat noted 4 ft swells so we delayed the trip until later. While waiting for the waves to die down we toured Nole’s ship, the USS Momsen, which is pretty cool in itself.

We finally got underway around noon or so. Fished for bait (hand sized flounder) for awhile and then went after the big boys. Check out our limit catch (1 per person). Nole and I didn’t manage to hook and land one by ourselves, but everybody else did.
